I’ve been quiet the past few months in the online marketing space. The quote, “We teach best what we most need to learn” perfectly describes me. I’m always running around telling people they need to be online so they can serve more people and grow their business. But where am I?
I’m now back on track. I have recommitted to bringing you the best content I can so you can be empowered to harness the power of the web.
Although I’ve been quiet, I’ve also been lurking. I’m listening to the conversations you, my peers and colleagues, are having.
One thing that we all have in common is at one point or another, we will plateau in our businesses.
This may look like we’re not growing in revenue or we’re bored with what we’ve been doing.
I plateaued this summer after a nice boom in the spring. I did a few things to shake things in my business up and get things moving again.
If you are spinning your wheels, then try these tips out and see if they help you.
Start evaluating your business and planning for the future like a CEO
Up until this summer, I was really just rolling with the punches. I wasn’t really evaluating the results of my efforts. I wasn’t planning for the future. This is a huge reason why I had plateaued. I had a vague idea of what was really going on behind-the-scenes but I didn’t really know. So I was just doing the same things over and over again and naturally, things went stale.
Now I have appointments with myself in my calendar to stop and look at what I’m doing, see what’s working, what’s not working, and what I need to do moving forward.
Try something new
The new thing I tried was hosting an evening workshop where I shared my 3-step system to generate leads online. It was fun to meet local entrepreneurs and to improve my speaking skills. The process of putting it on was surprisingly simple in terms of logistics. I needed to a) find a venue, b) market, c) prepare and practice the content. That’s it! It wasn’t easy but it was simple.
This is something anybody can do! I’ve expanded my local network now and was introduced to new resources that can support my business and help me support other businesses. I wouldn’t have been exposed to these resources if I didn’t venture into the offline world.
Try something BIG
The big thing I did was produce a virtual summit called Step Up Your Online Business. And oh man, that was big. Virtual summits take a lot of planning, creating, and execution. But now I have a larger list full of people I love to serve and it is so, so worth it. I did it both to serve a big group of people and also to create a ton of content as well.
And now I’m back!
